Thanks to everyone who has come out over the past three and a half months to help us out on the 1/2 acre farm project in Old Manchester. 700 volunteer hours have moved compost, chopped compacted soil, built and filled 17 compost bins, planted veggies, herbs, flowers and berries. We could not have done it without you! And to all the volunteers who worked with Allison Mesnard in the greenhouse-thank you!

Thanks to Mayor Jones and DCAO Carolyn Graham for making a visit and spending the time to learn about what we are doing and why.

Thanks and WELCOME to Vicky Campbell for stepping into the role of Community Garden Coordinator for the City of Richmond, and thanks to Alicia Zatcoff, Director of Sustainability for making it happen, along with the whole team. Thanks to the folks at Department of Public Utilities for helping us get our water straight!

Thanks to all the generous financial donations that have come in over the past two months. We have raised close to $20,000 to match our anonymous donation of $10,000–bringing us to our goal of $30,000 to get the farm started.

Thanks to everyone who has dropped off tools for us, or come by to say an encouraging word, and to just figure out what the heck we are doing on this vacant corner!

And to Jennifer Q. for help with our 990’s, and Hugh Joyce of James River Air for infrastructure help. And Lewis Plumbing Supply! And Mary Anne’s Trucking! And to Halcyon Vintage and Deep Grove Records!

It has been a phenomenal few months, and we look forward to all the goodness that is coming our way. See you at the farm or at the Farmers Market! This 1/2 acre plot of a prototype of what we can see all over town–restoring an ecology, creating jobs and healthy food. Join us!

Farm Stand opens Tuesday, June 1st, 4-7pm. We will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-7pm throughout the growing season.
