Please join us to say hello or to get dirty at the Humphrey Calder Community Garden Workday, (414 N. Thompson Street) this Saturday, April 25th, 10am-3pm!  Bring work gloves, wear sturdy shoes and sunscreen! Bring water–it is going to be a hot day. If you have shovels, cordless drills, hoses, hand saws, wheelbarrows-bring them as well!

Big Love from the Tricycle Gardens Crew!

Danny Finney and Lisa Taranto spent the day battling pleasant weather, intense winds and sporadic rainfall on the first part of the fence install. Thanks to our friends at The City of Richmond, Rec & Parks, the postholes where done in under 2 hours-then the real work began!

We need volunteers 4/22 and 4/23, 9am-noon! Come on out and lend a hand!

WATER: We are working with the Department of Public Utilities to waive the fee to bring water to the site, and with James River Air to install a backflow preventer and spigots. Goal is to do this for under $3,000.
FENCING: We are working with Parks & Rec to finalize the dimensions of the garden, and the design of the fence and gates.
COMPOST: Working on developing a way to create a community compost system, with input from Department of Environmental Quality
FUNDRAISING: We need to raise about $5,000 to pay for basic garden building materials & supplies. If you can donate, please hit the “Donate Now” button (look to the right), and specify “Humphry Calder Community Garden”.

Rock on!
