Healthy Corner Store Initiative

Corner Farm is increasing community access to fresh, affordable and locally grown produce by partnering with neighborhood corner stores located in urban food deserts in Richmond, VA.

“The City of Richmond is one of the largest urban food deserts in the United States,” explains Sally Schwitters, Executive Director of Tricycle Gardens.

Tricycle Gardens is growing and distributing fresh produce to participating corner stores, providing refrigeration and marketing tools and offering food skills education to help families learn skills to buy and prepare healthful, delicious meals on a limited budget.
